Facial Procedures

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Galitz performs a variety of facial cosmetic procedures.

Blepharoplasty restores a more rejuvenated and youthful appearance to the eyes by removing excess skin and/or fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. The surgery can improve sagging upper eyelids and puffiness or bags beneath the lower eyelids. Patients can expect a recovery of approximately seven to ten days following blepharoplasty.

Cheek Implants can be used to add definition to the cheeks and improve the facial contours. Cheek augmentation involves the use of soft silicone implants which are placed through a small incision in the upper lip. Recovery following cheek augmentation lasts approximately one week.

Chin Augmentation is able to add prominence to the chin in order to improve a weak or receding chin while also improving facial harmony. During the surgery, the chin implant is inserted through a small incision beneath the chin. Patients can expect a recovery of about one week following their chin augmentation procedure.

Forehead Lift, also known as a browlift, restores a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the brow and forehead area. The forehead lift minimizes forehead creases and furrows, frown lines, sagging eyebrows, and hooding over the eyes. The forehead lift is often performed with the use of an endoscope. Recovery lasts approximately one to two weeks.

Injectable Fillers can rejuvenate and enhance the facial appearance by filling in lines and wrinkles, plumping the lips, augmenting the cheeks and other facial features, and improving scars and other skin imperfections. There are many injectables currently available today including Sculptra, Radiesse, Artefill, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane and fat injection. Injectable fillers involve little to no downtime and results typically last anywhere from six to twelve months or longer depending on the particular filler used.

Laser Skin Resurfacing resurfaces the skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Laser light energy is used to improve skin laxity, wrinkles and color. Patients can expect a recovery time of approximately one to three weeks following laser skin resurfacing.

Lip Enlargement, also known as lip augmentation, creates a fuller, plumper appearance to the lips. There are many options available for lip augmentation including injectable fillers and implants. In addition, Dr. Galitz performs a procedure in which a dermal fat graft made from the patient's own tissue is used to achieve permanent, natural lip enlargement.

MOHS Reconstruction involves the reconstruction of defects caused by MOHS excision for the removal of skin cancers. During MOHS excision, minute layers of cancerous skin tissue are removed. This is a highly effective treatment for skin cancer but it can leave behind defects which may be improved with MOHS reconstruction. There are many different techniques available today for MOHS reconstruction.

Neck Lift restores a more youthful appearance to the neck by lifting sagging tissue. The neck lift can improve jowls, neck bands, and sagging neck skin. Patients can expect a recovery period of approximately seven to ten days following neck lift surgery.

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, reshapes large or prominent ears. This surgery can be performed on patients as young as four years of age. Otoplasty is performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation and involves a recovery of approximately seven to ten days.

Rhinoplasty, also referred to as nose surgery or a nose job, reshapes the nose for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Nose surgery can increase or decrease the overall size, remove a hump, change the shape of the bridge or tip, reshape the nostrils, and even improve some breathing problems. Recovery following rhinoplasty lasts approximately one to two weeks.

Rhytidectomy, or facelift surgery, rejuvenates the face and neck by lifting and repositioning sagging skin and altering the underlying muscles. Today's modern techniques in facelifting allow for a very natural result. A recovery of about one to two weeks can be expected following the facelift.
