Injectable Fillers

Question:

I've heard lip augmentation injections can be very painful. How do you ensure that the lips are sufficiently numbed before injections?

Answer:

I use a 20% lidocaine cream application to the lips for 20 minutes before any injections. If this is not sufficient than I will inject the lips with xylocaine themselves before the filler goes in.

Question:

I have fine lines above my lip. What's a good filler for this area?

Answer:

Restalyne, Perlane, or Juvederm products are all excellent above the lip.

Question: Do you recommend Juvederm, injectable filler, as a viable option to reduce wrinkles while avoiding surgery?
Answer: Juvederm is excellent filler and a good choice to lessen wrinkles for those who do not want surgery or laser treatments.
Question: For about how long do injectable fillers last? Is it safe to get continuous treatments?
Answer: Most injectable fillers last from 3-12 months depending on which filler is used. They can all be repeated as necessary very safely.
Question: I feel like I look like my mother! I look tired and old all the time. I have jowls, a sagging neck and wrinkles. Is a facelift the best solution?
Answer: A facelift and possibly eyelid surgery is the best choice bar none. Injectable fillers may help, but will not be anywhere near as good as a facelift at correcting your concerns.
Question: I have heard that Botox can help to alleviate migraines. Is this really true, and would insurance cover this use of Botox?
Answer: Yes Botox has been used with some success for migraines. The effect is to alleviate both trigger points and excessive muscle spasm and tension. You would need to see a neurologist about this kind of treatment.
Question: How frequently would I need to do Botox touch ups after the initial injections? And would they cost just as much as the initial injections?
Answer: Botox done correctly should not need a touch-up. However the medicine wears off naturally in 3-9 months depending on the individual and the concentration used. At that point you will need to reinject the area usually at full price.
Question: I have horrible frown lines all around my mouth; will botox injections ameliorate my problem? Are there greater risks having botox injected in the lower half of the face?
Answer: Botox around the mouth for wrinkles is not ideal. Both fillers like Juvederm or Perlane and\or laser are much better for this problem.
Question: Is there a risk of being allergic to Botox? What would happen if it’s possible to have a reaction?
Answer: Reported allergic reactions to Botox are very rare but it is possible. Redness and swelling at the injection site would be the most likely reactions if there were any. These would resolve very quickly.
Question: Do injectable fillers work on very deep wrinkles?
Answer: Yes, they work very well on deep wrinkles to soften them and make them less noticeable.
