Hair Transplant

Question:

Is it possible to drive myself home after my hair transplant?

Answer:

Yes, but not advisable. If you have taken a Valium and an Ambien as most patients do in our office driving is inappropriate until 4-6 hours after the end of your procedure to be on the safe side.

Question:

I've heard you can return to work pretty quickly after a hair transplant, but is it obvious to people that you've had something done?

Answer:

In 4-5 days you will look practically as though nothing was done. The strip donor site should hide nicely and most of the scabs should have fallen off.

Question:

I'm not losing hair but I've always had a high hairline and large forehead that I'm self-conscious about. Can a hair transplant help with this?

Answer:

A hair transplant is certainly an excellent way to go to lower your hairline naturally

Question:

What does the scalp look like when the grafts shed after a hair transplant? Does it look like it was before or is there marks from the procedure?

Answer:

When the grafts shed and the scabs are removed or fallen off the scalp looks entirely normal as though nothing has been done. There are no marks.

Question:

Is it okay to brush the scabs off your scalp after a hair transplant?

Answer:

After 4-5 days very gently brushing with a soft brush is OK to help remove scabs. Also gentle washin g can do the same.

Question:

Is it normal practice for doctors to require a deposit before a hair transplant?

Answer:

Certainly a deposit is required by almost all surgeons when booking a specific surgery date. Surgeons cannot tie up precious surgical time without a guarantee that a patient will show up for surgery.

Question:

If I get a HT at 30, how many times would I need to come back as I keep losing it?

Answer:

You will not lose the transplanted hair as it is permanent for your whole life. However you may continue to lose your own untransplanted hair due to your genetics. You may need subsequent transplant work over the years as further hair loss dictates.

Question:

I met with one hair transplant surgeon and he told me the he doesn't do the actual hair transplant and that the technicians do it. I was shocked! Is this normal practice?

Answer:

Yes. Few surgeons have the time to do hair implantation and if they do they are not busy with the important stuff. That is why our office has technicians that have great experience and training and compliment the surgeons work so that he can concentrate on design work and graft retrieval

Question:

Is it true that hair transplant hair isn't as dense as a normal head of hair?

Answer:

A hair transplant does not always achieve the same density as the surrounding hair. However if good donor hair is available and your surgeon has excellent experience the difference can be minimal and totally unnoticeable. The goal by any good transplant surgeon is to reproduce the natural density wherever and whenever possible.

Question: When you're looking at before and after pictures of a doctor's hair transplant work, what should you be looking for?
Answer: Number one is: consistently natural looking results across all hair and patient types. You should be happy to have the head of hair results you see in the book. If not, go somewhere else.
