Question: When fixing an overprojected nose, is a chin implant always used?
Answer: No. A chin implant needs to be used only if there is a lack of adequate projection to the chin. Correction of an overprojecting nose can be done without chin work if it is not needed.

Question: What are chin implants made out of? I am very sensitive and often have allergic reactions to products such as latex. Is there a way I can test myself ahead of time to see if I am allergic to the products in the implant?
Answer: Most implants are made of silastic and do not relate to latex allergy problems, I do not know of a specific test you can do but you can consult an immunologist on this matter.

Question:
I will be getting a cosmetic surgery procedure done next month. I am scheduled for a chin implant with fat transfer to the face. I was recently looking at articles online and I found a worrying piece about breast implants. One of the complications of breast implant surgery is that the implant can slip out of place. I am sure this would be devastating to someone with implants but it would be even more so if it took place on the chin, as the chin is so noticeable. What are the possibilities of implant dislocation? What other possible complications may occur?
Answer:
If the chin implant is placed properly in a small pocket from an external, under the chin, incision you should have no problems. By this method and done this way with a small pocket against the mandible the implant has nowhere to go and should remain in place nicely forever.

I am a 23-year-old male professional body builder and would like to have a chin implant. I have a dimple in my chin that I would not want to lose for aesthetic reasons. Can the procedure be done and still keep the dimple?

Yes, using the right implant and an experienced surgeon.
I’m a 20 year old woman, and I got a rhinoplasty five days ago. I love the shape of my new nose, it’s straighter and smaller and looks great. My only complaint is that now my chin looks weak and washed out, and I’d like to get a chin implant. How long after my rhinoplasty do I have to wait to get a chin implant?
Answer:
I would wait 3 or 4 weeks for most of the swelling to go down. Probably should have done it with the original Rhinoplasty.

Question:
I am thinking about having a chin implant put in. What does the implant feel like for the patient? Will I get used to it quickly, or will it take a long time?
Answer:
A good chin implant is done under local anesthesia, takes 20 minutes and sits against the bone giving the proper projection to the jaw. You will never know that it is there.
I am a 32-year-old female and am interested in a chin implant. Do you have a system that does computerized pictures of what you would look like after the procedure? I really would like to have this done but am quite nervous about the results.
Answer:
In our office we always do computer imaging for prospective chin implant surgery, this method works extremely well and is very accurate for this type of surgery.

Question:
What are the instances where a chin implant can help the appearance of the nose?
Answer:
A chin implant can always help the appearance of the nose if there is a relative imbalance in the facial profile. If the chin is under projected it will benefit both the look of the face and the projection of the nose. This is true even if the nose itself looks fine and especially true if the nose is over projected and the chin is short.
