Cheek Implants

Question:

For some reason, I always think of young people as getting cheek implants. But I’m in my early 60s and feel that my cheeks have lost a lot of volume. Is this something that cheek implants could help with? Are they ever used to combat aging signs like this?

Answer:

Absolutely, this is a very good procedure to add to some facelifts.

Question:

How long is a typical cheek implant procedure?

Answer:

I do cheek implant procedures with minimal oral sedation and local anesthetic in 30 minutes, start to finish.

Question:

Is there such a thing as cheek implants for the area below the cheekbones?

Answer:

Yes, specifically they are called submalar implants. I use these and regular malar implants depending on the needs of the patient. Both are excellent implants with great aesthetic results.

Question:

I'd love to get cheek implants but I have a hard to envisioning where the incisions would be made so that they're not visible. Where are they made?

Answer:

All the cheek implants I use are made of soft silastic material and feel totally natural and are fully accepted by the body. The incisions I use for cheek implants are under the upper lip and are completely hidden and never seen.

Question: If you have a very full, round face and want more definition, are cheek implants the way to go or will they just make the face look fuller?
Answer: Cheek implants would be a great choice. I would also add a little facial liposuction in the cheeks and neck to even better the results.
Question: I have severe acne on my face, and especially my cheeks. I really want to have cheek implants, but I am worried that this procedure will be a hindrance to improving my skin condition. Is this something I should be worried about?
Answer: Most implants are put in from under the upper lip and against the cheek bone itself; so should have no effect on your acne problems.
Question: A few days after my cheek implant, I was hit in the face with a softball. How will this affect the healing process?
Answer: I cannot say, but if the implant feels in place there is nothing to do but ice the area and wait for the swelling to go down and then reassess.
Question:

How many days will I have to take off work after my cheek implants?

Answer:

Cheek implants are placed from under the upper lip so there is no visible post-operative incision. Swelling is noticeable for 5-7 days. You can probably go to work in three to five days.

Question:

I'd like to get cheek implants. How will the doctor decide which cheek shape is best for me?

Answer:

I only use certain very reliable cheek implants both from an aesthetic concern and from a safety concern, (Implantech conform). These can be ordered in any size needed and trimmed appropriately for each individual patient.
